as a result of the corporate advisory and business of our clients, the protection of their intellectual property rights was an immediate need. Therefore, our firm structured, since many years ago, a specialized area with all what it is related to the intellectual property.  The result has been the conformation of an area and a legal team in wide growth, which has allowed the prevention of holding the registration rights of our clients and also in the judicial and administrative lawsuits when a divergence arises between said rights’ holders.

The services offered are diversified, such as watching service, brands’ registration and protection, commercial names, invention patents, industrial designs and drawings, utility models, authoring rights, registration availability, licence contracts, defense of acts of unfair competition and infractions of intellectual property rights, defense against piracy acts, oppositions, administrative resources and litigation procedures.

Our Partners Lawyers and Area Directors actively participate into the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), collaborating with the same in the training of Judges, Magistrates and Prosecutors, in an institutional effort for the development of this right and its judicial enforcement in our country. Likewise, they cooperate in the development of the intellectual property culture in Guatemala, from an academic and an association part.

Regarding the struggle against intellectual property infractions, our firm has made judicial relevant achievements at national level, obtaining court orders as precedent in the defense of the intellectual property in Guatemala.
